1. Summary

PapyrAI is designed to keep your data on your device. Your PDFs are never uploaded. AI features run locally on your device. We do not run analytics, do not use third-party trackers, and do not collect personal information about you.

2. What stays on your device

Your PDFs, the summaries the app generates from them, your reading state, your notes, and your app preferences all live on your device. None of it is uploaded to us.

3. Network access

The app connects to the network only in these situations:

  • When you paste an arXiv link, the app downloads that PDF from arXiv.
  • When you make or restore a purchase, the operating system talks to Apple to process it.
  • If you are signed in to iCloud, the app syncs which papers used the free tier across your devices through Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This holds a one-way fingerprint (hash) of each free paper and when it was added, never the PDFs or their contents.
  • If you keep your papers folder in iCloud Drive, Apple syncs those files between your devices as part of iCloud Drive. PapyrAI does not send them anywhere else.

There are no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or telemetry endpoints.

4. Purchases

PapyrAI is free to try, with a one-time in-app unlock for full access. Purchases are handled by Apple. Your purchase and free-tier usage may be shared across your Apple devices through iCloud so that the app behaves consistently when you sign in on a new device.

5. What we do not collect

  • No account. You do not sign in.
  • No analytics, no crash reports, no device fingerprints.
  • No advertising identifiers.
  • No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.

6. This website

getpapyrai.com uses no cookies, analytics, or third-party scripts, and its fonts are served from this site. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

7. Data retention and deletion

All app data lives on your device. Deleting the app removes it. Your purchase remains associated with your Apple Account and can be restored on any device via the Restore purchase control in Settings.

8. Children

PapyrAI is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Your rights

Because PapyrAI does not collect personal information, there is typically nothing for us to return or delete. If applicable law gives you rights over any information we may hold, contact privacy [at] getpapyrai.com.

If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
